ARGUS GmbH  has developed and manufactures the ''ASM'' turbidity meter, an instrument designed to measure the vertical turbidity profile over a length ranging from a few centimetres to 2m.

This instrument offers high resolution measurements at the bottom of moving water (ocean/river locations). It records the reflections and the dynamic parameters that are created in the measuring plane by solid particles moving in a multiphase current. It provides an independent contribution to the complex questions which arise from the context of transport of solids in the connecting layer between the bottom, the mud layer and the main body of water..

 

The ASM probe

The ASM Probe has following sensors embedded in a stainless steel rod housing:

Backscatter infrared sensors, one per cm length
An inclinometer for two directions
, up to 60°
A pressure gauge
(tide/depth reading)
A temperature sensor

Activation and power supply for the sensors as well as for the transmission of the signals are controlled by a battery powered central unit sealed-in the head of the instrument. It consists of a microprocessor, a data memory, the additional sensors and the energy supply.

The energy consumption of the instrument is very low and one or two standard 9v alkaline batteries will power it for month under typical conditions.

 


The new ASMA2.20 software runs on PC’s WIN9x, 2k, XP-prof. and XP-home. It offers advanced post processing facilities, which includes graphics, and off course the probe calibration and deployment utilities.
